I have developed a cello method for children as young as 4 years old. Besides teaching, I am a performing musician and recorded a CD of chamber music from the 19th century for cello and piano. I give concerts of the standard classical repertoire, both in chamber music and in Dutch orchestras, and regularly perform non-Western music such as tango, Indian, Arabic and pop music. I was featured with the Malando Tango Orchestra, ud player Haytham Safia and saxophonist Phil Woods at the North Sea Jazz Festival. I am a certified teacher of Alexander Technique for releasing unnecessary muscle tension in movement and while making music. As a board member of the Prelude Foundation, I am committed to music education for children in the Middle East.

Playing the cello makes me happy and I like to share this enthusiasm with young people.

My inspirational examples: Pierre Fournier and Anner Bijlsma with their recordings of Bach's suites; Jacqueline Dupré with her unmatchable recording of Brahms's Sonata in E; Dmitri Ferschtman with his Cello Sonata by Nikolai Mjaskovsky, and Valter Despalj and Vladimir Perlin for their cello methodologies.
