Platform C has launched a new collaboration with Keizer Karel College through Lab C. Third-year students worked in small groups on a real-world assignment: How can Lab C increase its visibility among young people?
\nThe assignment fit well with the technasium curriculum, in which students work on real-world problems. They conduct research and design solutions. For Lab C, the students explored how they could raise the profile of both Lab C itself and the work of young people. This involved work created within the labs, such as film, fashion, music, and visual arts.<\/p>\n

A real client<\/h3>\n

Lab C was chosen as the client because it is a place where young people are actively engaged in creative disciplines. A lot of strong and interesting work is being produced there, but it is not always well visible to a wider audience.
\nFor the students, this was a great and realistic assignment. They weren\u2019t working on a fictional case study, but on a real-world problem. As a result, they had to think about actual target audiences, their needs, and a solution that would actually be used.<\/p>\n

From Research to Prototype<\/h3>\n

The project was structured according to the Design Thinking method. In four phases, the students worked step by step toward a final product. First, they immersed themselves in Lab C and the target audience. They conducted research, performed analyses, and synthesized their insights. Then they brainstormed various ideas and chose a direction to develop further.
\nNext, the students created a prototype. This could be, for example, a digital platform, an app, a website, a database, or a social media concept. At Platform C, we guided the students through interim evaluations and by contributing ideas and brainstorming with them about their concepts and the direction they had chosen. Using the feedback they received throughout the process, they were able to further refine their ideas. In the final phase, the students presented their final product to the client and experts.<\/p>\n

Creative Digital Ideas<\/h3>\n

The project gave rise to a variety of creative ideas. Some groups suggested a revamped website or a digital platform where the work of Lab C participants could be showcased.
\nOther students worked on a concept for a digital museum. In it, visitors can listen to or view content such as music, photography, and fashion designs. There were also interactive ideas, such as quizzes that allow visitors to get to know Lab C in an accessible way.
\nIn addition, social media ideas were discussed, especially for TikTok. The students wanted to use these platforms to reach young people in a way that resonates with their lives. Plans were also devised for live events, such as a DJ contest. This even led to the idea of offering preparatory lessons beforehand, so that more young people would feel confident enough to participate.<\/p>\n

Learning by Doing<\/h3>\n

For many students, it was their first time working for a real client. That made the project educational, but sometimes also nerve-wracking. The project required a great deal of independence, initiative, and collaboration. Some groups handled this very well. They worked in a structured way, asked questions, and took responsibility for their process. Other groups found that freedom more challenging. That, too, is part of learning.<\/p>\n

The end result, therefore, wasn't the only thing that mattered. It was the process itself that was important. How do you approach an assignment? How do you work together? And how do you handle feedback?<\/p>\n

Through this collaboration, the students gained valuable experience working for a real client. Lab C gained fresh ideas for raising the profile of young creators\u2019 work.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
