In this theater course, you will work with monologues. A monologue is a text played by one character. In this course you will learn how to make such a text your own and bring it to life. Sometimes you play the text to the audience, sometimes as if someone is facing you. In this way you explore different ways of playing and narrating. During the last lesson we invite the audience to come and watch.

• Discovering what a monologue is and how to play it 

• Learning, writing and rehearsing texts 

• Final public performance 

Target 

14-18 years. This course is suitable for young people who are interested in theater. It does not matter if you already have experience or are on stage for the first time. 

Number of classes 

Short course block of 6 lessons, including presentation for audience in last lesson.

You do not need to purchase any materials yourself. 

Homework 

Over the course of the course, you will be assigned to learn texts. 

Working form during the theater course monologues

The focus is on doing and trying out. You play, write and improvise. Together you will make choices and discover different ways to shape a story. Each lesson is practical and aimed at further developing your skills. 

Result theater course 

After this course you will have: 

• Learned that there are many different ways to bring a story or scene to life. 

• Learned how to work with existing texts as well as your own ideas. 

• Gained more self-confidence and learned to enjoy being on stage in front of an audience. 

About the teacher 

Sharon Varekamp is an experienced theater teacher and director. She has taught theater classes at youth theater schools and worked with preliminary theater courses for many years. Sharon will guide you step by step so that you can take the stage confidently.
