Want to take better pictures and get more out of your camera? In this basic photography course you will learn how your camera works. Above all, you will do and practice a lot. This way you will discover step by step how to make your photos stronger.
The lessons are clear, practical and personal. You get explanations in plain language and apply that knowledge immediately. So you learn not only what shutter speed, aperture and ISO mean, but especially how to use them for your own photos.
This course is for anyone who likes to learn by doing. You will learn how to look more consciously, how to use light and how to make a good composition. You will also learn how to choose, discuss and easily edit your photos. The atmosphere in class is relaxed and fun. There is room to ask questions, practice and discover what suits you.
During the course you will work on the most important basics of photography. This is what you can expect:
Lesson 1 - Introduction, start with shutter speed, aperture and ISO
Lesson 2 - Using shutter speed and aperture to create highlights
Lesson 3 - Practice on location, at Platform C or elsewhere
Lesson 4 - Composition: tessellation, where to put what in the picture
Lesson 5 - Objectives: working with depth and perspective
Lesson 6 - Simple photo editing
Lesson 7 - Exposure correction and white balance: light, dark and contrast
Lesson 8 - Light fall and flashes: working with light and shadow
Lesson 9 - Practice on location, at Platform C or elsewhere
Lesson 10 - Selection, reflection, exhibition and completion: how to choose the best photo?
This course is for beginners aged 18 and up. You do not need any experience.
The course consists of 10 lessons.
Each class lasts 2.5 hours.
Bring your own camera. This can be a digital SLR or system camera with an Av and S/Tv mode. A compact camera with M, A and S modes is also suitable. Also bring your camera's manual with you. A tripod is not required, but may be useful.
After class, practice at home with what you have learned.
The classes are active and practical. You get theory, but apply it immediately.
You will be taught by an experienced teacher who explains calmly and clearly. The teacher helps you step by step and provides a good classroom atmosphere. This way you learn with pleasure and at your own pace.
Upon completion, you will have a better understanding of how your camera works. You can make choices in light, composition, sharpness and perspective. This allows you to take better pictures your way.
A fun fact: the teacher sees the camera as a great excuse to discover new places. By asking “Can I take a picture?” the instructor has already come across unusual places, such as a hotel under construction. You take that curious way of looking at things with you in the course.
