In the Netherlands, we can celebrate living in freedom. But freedom can never be taken for granted. On May 5, we reflect on our freedom with a meal and concert on the Stadsplein. We meet, share stories and celebrate our freedom.
Currently, the 200 spots at the table for the free Freedom Dinner have been given up, but you are of course welcome to enjoy the concert! You can sign up for the waiting list just to be sure. You will be notified as soon as a cancellation a spot becomes available.
We cordially invite you to the Town Square to celebrate freedom. We will do this with being together, toasting together and eating together. Between meals, the musicians of Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw (JOC) will give a dazzling performance. They will be joined by singer and pianist Ruben Hein. Meet new people, listen to each other's stories and get to know each other better on Liberation Day.

Starting at 1:15 p.m., you can join us at one of the long tables in the town square. Here a delicious three-course lunch will be waiting for you. The first course with sandwiches is provided by our partner Kragtwijk. The second course is soup - Freedom Soup - the symbol of the Freedom Meal. This year the recipe comes from the kitchen of chef Jet van Nieuwkerk. Curious? You can download the soup recipe here view. The third course is still a surprise.
Both the lunch and the concert are completely free, but reservations are highly desirable. A maximum of 200 seats are available.

Afterwards, you can also celebrate freedom in the village, at Museum Cobra and with city walks by Museum without Walls. The film Eva's bag. Eva's bag is the impressive story of Eva who, with her husband Alex Speelman, decide to flee occupied Holland in 1942. Keep an eye on the website for sales of this film.
