In this course you will have the opportunity to create a short performance with others. You will work from a theme, an existing story or a script and explore different ways to bring it to life on stage. In 13 lessons you will work step by step toward a short final performance, thinking together about the design and interpretation of the piece. The course concludes with a performance in the theater auditorium of Theater de Landing for an audience.

What to expect.

• Getting to know each other and the basics of theater
• Collection of materials (existing and own work)
• Drafting a script
• Learning and rehearsing texts
• Thinking about design (lighting, sound, costumes, scenery)
• Rehearsing for the final performance
• Final public performance

Target

14-18 years. This course is suitable for young people who are interested in theater. It does not matter if you already have experience or are on stage for the first time.

The focus is on doing and trying out. You play, write and improvise. Together you will make choices and discover different ways to shape the story. Each lesson is practical and aimed at further developing your skills.

About the teacher

Sharon Varekamp is an experienced theater teacher and director. She has taught theater classes at youth theater schools and worked with preliminary theater courses for many years. Sharon will guide you step by step so that you can take the stage confidently.
