Platform c offers oboe lessons in Amstelveen. The oboe is a wooden wind instrument with a bright sound. What makes the oboe special is the mouthpiece. The double reed, in fact two pieces of bamboo on top of each other, provides a large part of the sound. The oboe often plays beautiful melodies. Think, for example, of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake. Most children begin playing the oboe around age 8 or 9. Depending on the child's build and teething, sometimes oboe lessons can be started as early as age 6; you are never too old to take lessons. The oboe is common in classical music, as well as pop and musical. The oboe is a wonderful solo instrument, but also plays very well with piano or other wind or string instruments. The oboe is also found in the symphony and harmony orchestra.

About the oboe lessons

During my oboe lessons, the focus is on enjoying making music. The double reed plays an important role in both the sound and the ease of playing the oboe. I make sure there is always a reed that plays nicely. In addition, I will pay much attention to the way of blowing. This is the basis that ensures that students have fun and can make music right from the start. Making music together is the most fun there is, so I like to play along with the students in a duet. Advanced students I guide them in developing their (musical) creativity and, if they wish, offer reed lessons. In these lessons, I give tips on how to touch up reeds and explain all the steps of the reed-making process.
