Letters are all around us: on the street, in books, on packaging and posters. In the Talent Class Discovering Letters, children engage with letters in a playful and inquisitive way. We look at, collect and use different kinds of letters and discover how form, image and language together can tell a story.
During the course we experiment with different techniques, such as printing letters, stamps, cutting and pasting. Sometimes we work with existing letterforms, sometimes we make them ourselves or combine them with images.
The emphasis is not on learning to write neatly, but on exploring, creating and experimenting. Thus children discover how versatile letters can be and how you can use them to create your own image or message.
Children experiment with different materials and techniques, such as printing with loose letters, making collages, drawing, stamping or working with color and shape. The teacher brings many examples and materials for inspiration, but there is also plenty of room for their own ideas and discoveries.
This course is specially designed for children ages 8 to 12. No experience is necessary, so anyone can participate and enjoy the creative process.
The course consists of 10 lessons, each lasting 2 hours. This provides enough time to master the techniques and let your creativity run wild.
Platform C provides materials.
There is no homework, so you can fully concentrate on learning and creating during the classes themselves.
You will practice a lot and get right to work with the techniques you learn. Many books and examples are provided for inspiration.
