In drama class 3, the basic skills of drama are further explored. You learn to relate to others, in addition to focusing on your own play. Theater is not only acting, but above all reacting. You do this by opening all your senses: watch and listen to each other!
We do theater exercises with the whole group, as well as in small groups, so we can look closely at each other's scenes and see what works well. We also make a start with playing from text. You learn to play dialogues with two or more children, but also monologues, in which you speak on your own. At the end of the year we create a beautiful performance together, complete with lights and sound in the theater.
What to expect.
Group 7 and 8. No experience necessary.
You don't have to buy anything. For the final presentation you may be asked to bring for example a white T-shirt and white pants, but we usually solve this by exchange or borrowing. During the lessons music is used and sometimes theater props, costumes or utensils. Also dialogues, monologues or book passages, mostly from the teacher, sometimes from the students.
In principle, no. Only towards the final presentation students have to memorize a limited number of phrases, so then practicing at home is helpful.
Practice only: with the whole group together and, in addition, collaborative assignments in pairs or multiples.
Why take this tonneelles at Platform C in Amstelveen?
After drama class 3 you know very well what ensemble playing is: you can make things up on stage by yourself, but you can also listen and react very well to the other players. You can apply this in improvisations, but also in monologues or dialogues, which we practice a lot. You dare to play for a large audience without embarrassment and know how to time your text, so that you will surprise your friends and family in the final presentation!
Teacher Els Willems has years of experience working with children, such as at Jeugdtheaterschool Rabarber in The Hague and Kunstencentrum Idea in Soest. In addition, she often directs young people and students, including at the Vossius Gymnasium where she now teaches. Els' great passion is to give children the self-confidence to shine together on stage, where everyone's part is equally important and the enjoyment of acting is paramount.
