In drama course 1 you will be introduced to the basics of theater. We work a lot with movement, music and our own imagination - because everyone has good ideas, including you! You will see how much fun it is when you can transform those ideas into acting. Working together and listening to each other are important, but the most important thing is fun. That is paramount here!
What to expect. We start with movement and music and discover what it is like to watch and be watched. We do whole-group exercises and work in pairs and threesomes on small assignments. We sometimes use theater props such as hats or utensils. Your imagination drives everything, and you learn how to use it well for theater. You play different roles and learn to use your voice. At the end of the year, you give a presentation in a real theater, in front of a real audience.
For children in grades 3 and 4. No experience necessary.
One three-quarter-hour class each week for one school year. Halfway through the year there is a viewing lesson. At the end of the year (April or May) there is a presentation in a real theater hall, with lights and sound.
You don't have to purchase anything. For the final presentation you may be asked to bring, for example, a white T-shirt and white pants, but usually we can work it out with exchange and borrowing. During the lessons we use music and sometimes theater props, such as hats or utensils.
In principle, no. Only towards the final presentation students have to memorize a limited number of phrases, so then practicing at home is helpful.
Only practice: with the whole group together and sometimes small collaborative tasks in pairs or triplets.
