Last Saturday at Platform C we had an amazing creative adventure with our Inspiration Workshop Culinary Drawing for Kids. What a day full of fun, laughter and artwork it was! Here's a peek at what went on.
Faces à la Arcimboldo
Under the guidance of the inspired teacher Annefie, the children learned how to create beautiful works of art with natural materials, such as fruits and vegetables. The highlight was creating fruity faces à la Arcimboldo. This artist was known for his unique portraits composed of all kinds of edible elements. The children put their own spin on this style and created colorful and funny faces that brightened up the whole room.
Playful Knowledge Making
The goal of the workshop was not only to be creative, but also to introduce children to natural materials in a playful way. By using fruits and vegetables as artistic building blocks, we hope the children will have a more positive view of these healthy treats. It was great to see them enthusiastically getting started and letting their creativity run wild.
Art with text
In addition to the fruit faces, the children created other works of art, this time with text. They shared their thoughts about fruits and vegetables. Some statements were hilarious, with children declaring that candy was stupid! It was nice to see them playfully sharing their opinions.
A preview of the Talent Class
The inspiration workshop was just a taste of what else we have to offer. Our talent class invites children to join us on an inspiring journey of discovery. Here they learn not only to draw and paint, but also to observe and look closely at the world around them.
In the Talents class, we explore basic techniques and pay attention to how famous artists such as Vincent van Gogh, Rembrandt van Rijn and David Hockney incorporated nature into their art. Children have the opportunity to develop their own talents and discover how to freely apply the techniques of masters in their own work.
