In brief about recorder lessons

If you are looking for a beginning instrument, then recorder lessons are an excellent choice! Many people think that the recorder is only suitable as a beginner's instrument, but you can progress to a high level with it. Moreover, you will learn skills that you can later apply to any other wind instrument.

Program

  • Instrument Technology: how to hold the recorder, how to blow and articulate properly?
  • Reading Notes: step by step we work on your music reading skills.
  • Learning musical instructions: think dynamics, tempo and phrasing.
  • Interpretation, musicality, timing and expression: how do you really make a piece of music come alive?
  • Collaboration and coordination: learn to listen to others and form a whole together.
  • Having fun: making music is especially fun and relaxing!
  • Independent music reading: over time, you can rehearse new pieces yourself.
  • Developing your brain: making music trains your brain and coordination!

Target group recorder lessons

  • Preparatory recorder: ages 4 and up. Click here to go to this course.
  • Recorder lessons: ages 7 and up.
  • Group lessons are also available so you can learn with friends or family.

Lesson duration and number of lessons

  • Regular class: minimum 30 minutes per week.
  • Group lessons (from 2 to 3 students): minimum 30 minutes.

Teaching Materials

You will purchase your own recorder (in consultation with the teacher).
The textbook Recorder case 1 (ACM-254-NL) is the ideal start.
A small notebook Is useful for notes.

Homework

To move forward properly, is home practice important. Practicing for 25 minutes at least three times a week will help you learn faster and have more fun. The more often you play, the better you become.

Working form during the course

The recorder lessons are interactive, with about 20% theory and 80% practice. For beginners, the main thing is a lot of doing: playing and listening. Without home study, development is slower, but by practicing regularly, you will notice rapid progress.

Dodó Kis plays not only recorder, but also other instruments and enjoys mixing different musical genres. She performs at home and abroad (including Europe, Canada and the US) and brings her broad experience to the lessons. This gives you a unique perspective on music and all the possibilities of the recorder.
