Would you like to learn to act? Would you like to create a performance together with others? At Youth Theater 1 you will discover what theater can be. Theater is something you do together. You go on a journey as a group, with a teacher as your guide. You know roughly where you are going, but along the way you discover together what comes into being.
The course consists of two parts.
In the first part, you will receive theater lessons. You get to work with improvisation, emotions, acting styles and existing theater texts. You try out a lot and learn what suits you.
In the second part, you work toward a performance for an audience. Together with the group you choose a theme. From that theme you create scenes and dialogues. You also look for existing theater texts that fit your theme.
Youth Theatre 1 is for youth in grade 1 and 2 of high school. You do not need to have experience with theater.
You will have a 1.5-hour class each week. Classes are from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The course consists of 25 lessons.
You don't have to purchase anything yourself.
Sometimes you practice with text or acting at home. This way you can participate more confidently in class and during the performance.
The lessons are active and varied. You are mostly playing and practicing a lot. The teacher gives explanations, assignments and tips. Then you get to work right away. You work a lot together with others. Sometimes you play in small groups. Sometimes you practice with the whole group. You also watch and learn from each other.
At Platform C you will be taught in a safe and creative atmosphere. You get space to show yourself. You are allowed to try, make mistakes and grow. The teacher helps you step by step. There is attention for the group, but also for you as a player. This way you learn not only to make theater, but also to cooperate and dare more.
After Youth Theatre 1, you are more confident on stage. You've practiced improvisation, emotions, text and acting together. You have also experienced what it is like to create a performance together in front of an audience. You learn to be daring, to work together and to use your imagination. And above all: you discover how much fun theater can be!
The course is taught by an experienced theater teacher. The teacher guides the group as director and helps you discover your own play.
