Renovation

The cultural strip along Stadsplein is being renovated. This includes the Amstelveen Theater, P60, and the Platform C building. Thanks to the renovation, Platform C will have more space for classes, courses, and activities.

Ready for the future: what's next?
The building will feature an impressive new exterior facade. The facade will extend approximately 4 meters forward. As a result, the road directly in front of the building will disappear. We will also gain more space for our activities. A small hall will be added, as well as a second studio. The entire building will also be made future-proof with new technical systems, improved climate control on the third floor, and refreshed classrooms and offices.

The city owns the building and is overseeing the renovation. Stadsplein is also being renovated. The square will become greener, more open, and livelier. Our neighbors, the Schouwburg and Poppodium P60, will get a beautiful new theater. They will temporarily relocate to another venue.

On this page, we’ll keep you updated on the renovation. Here you’ll find the latest updates on the schedule, access to our building, and any changes to classes and activities.

Temporary Entrance During Renovations

Since August 17, the entrance to Platform C has been temporarily moved to the rear of the building, on Meander. There is a Platform C welcome sign at the entrance to help you find it easily. Would you like to know the best way to get to Platform C by bike, car, or public transportation during the renovation? Check out the frequently asked questions at the bottom of this page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Starting August 17, there will be a temporary entrance at the rear of the building with an additional door that is accessible to visitors. The reception desk has been repositioned to ensure good visibility of this entrance. A Platform C welcome sign is located at this entrance.

By bike

  • Coming from the north (the Cobra Museum), you can bike between the library and the shopping center and cross the square to Platform C.
  • You can park your bike at the back of the building or at the bike rack near HEMA.

By car

  • People can be dropped off by car at the rear of the building (Kiss & Ride), and there is also a parking lot for people with disabilities.
  • Please note: cyclists and buses also use the rear entrance, so please be extra careful here.
  • The parking garages at Stadsplein are accessible as usual.

You can drop off your child at the Kiss & Ride area at the back of the building; the accessible parking space is also located there. Go to Meander 201 (1181 WN Amstelveen). The back of our building is across the Meander, at the bend.

Notice: Cyclists and buses also use the rear entrance, so please be extra careful when dropping off and picking up your child there.

When classes resume at the end of August, some classes may be held in a different classroom. The halls can still be used for performances during the renovation. Construction work stops every day at 4:00 p.m., and there is no construction on weekends. However, there may occasionally be some noise disturbance. Of course, we’re doing everything we can to keep the disturbance to a minimum.

In general, all classes will continue as usual during the renovation. Occasionally, a class may be held in a different room. If there are any changes, we will notify you by email or text message.

If classes are canceled due to renovations, the same guidelines apply as in the case of emergencies and other exceptional circumstances: Platform C will offer an alternative whenever possible (for example, a different room or an online class). If no alternative can be offered and the class is therefore canceled, you are eligible for a refund. For year-long courses, tuition will be refunded starting with the third missed class; for short courses, starting with the second missed class. This refund will be processed after the course ends, once it is known exactly how many classes were canceled.

There may be times when we don't find out about changes until shortly beforehand. Even then, we'll do our best to keep everyone as informed as possiblecontact, for example by sending a text message or by providing information within the building itself.

The renovation is expected to be completed by the start of the 2027–2028 season. During the final phase, work will focus primarily on the facade.
