Clarinet lessons are suitable for anyone 6-7 years old and up. You don't need any experience, because we start with the basics. You will quickly discover how much fun it is to make music and get better and better. In addition, you can play for free with a professional pianist. That makes your music experience complete!
You can start clarinet lessons from age 6 to 7. Experience is not necessary; pleasure in making music is paramount.
Group lesson (from 2 students): 30 or 40 minutes. Individually, you can choose lessons of 25 minutes or longer, depending on the curriculum you purchase. You get 38 lessons per course year.
For small hands, there is the es clarinet. You can rent these at music stores.
The b-flat clarinet (standard) is also available for rent or purchase.
You will need straws to play (e.g. available from straws.co.uk).
In the first year, you get many copies from the teacher. Later you can purchase music books from stores such as Broekmans & Van Poppel.
To really enjoy making music, practice at home is important. Start with 10 to 15 minutes a day. If you play more, you will get better faster. In class we will work together on the pieces you have prepared at home.
Clarinet lessons are above all a lot of doing: playing yourself. The teacher accompanies you on clarinet or piano. Sometimes you also play with fellow students. That way you can hear how much fun playing together can be.
Platform C has experienced and enthusiastic clarinet teachers. They take into account your learning style and musical preferences. There are also several performance opportunities inside and outside the school, so you can gain stage experience. Thanks to the ensembles and the opportunity to play with a professional pianist, your musical experience will be even richer.
