Program Hello Cello Day Oct. 20, 2024
In cooperation with the Cello Biennale Amsterdam, Schouwburg Amstelveen and Platform C are again organizing this year's Hello Cello Day on October 20. A festive open house and introduction to all wat to do with the cello. As at the Cello Biennale itself, which takes place at the Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam, there are performances/concerts, free workshops, free master classes en other activities. So there are both paid and free events.
10.00 – Walk-in with Orchestra Passionato Strings and cello ensembles
Come enjoy a special morning concert featuring the Passionato Strings string orchestra and several cello ensembles, including the Monti Cellos. Would you like to not only listen but also play along? You are welcome to participate! Rehearsals will take place on Friday evenings Oct. 11 and Oct. 18 from 7:45 to 8:30 p.m. at Platform C. Participation is free.

10.00 – 16.00 – Workshop Build your own cello - Jacob Plooij
Under the guidance of violinist and sound artist Jacob Plooij, you will get to work making your own cello from old instruments and waste (materials).
11.00 – 12.00 – Youth/Familie performance Old (6+)
Cellists Pepijn Meeuws and Emile Visser take you on a visual and musical journey in which humor and seriousness alternate. You will hear the finest musical repertoire imaginable: from medieval music to jazz and from world music to rock.

11.00 – 12.30 – Master class - Monique Heidema
Monique Heidema is cello teacher at the conservatories of Tilburg and Amsterdam. She gives a master class to advanced cello students from North Holland. https://www.moniqueheidema.net/ You must be selected for this master class. You will be notified after registration.

11.00 – 12.30 – Workshop on Improvisation - Annie Tångberg & Martin Fondse

12.30 – 13.00 – Lunch with pancake and lemonade
13.00 – 13.30 – Bach Suite No. 3 - Johan van Iersel
On this Hello Cello Day, Johan van Iersel will perform a beautiful interpretation of the Bach suite No. 3. Be enchanted by the refined sounds Johan manages to elicit from his cello.

14.00 – 14.40 – Inspirational Cello Workshop for young children (ages 4 to 7) - Leonie Stevens
The cello is quite a large instrument, fortunately there are also small cellos (the eighth or quarter cellos) especially for the small cellist. Would you like to explore whether the cello is an instrument for you? Then come to this workshop for young children

14.00 – 15.30 – Master class - Johan van Iersel

14.45 – 15.30 – Performance Abracadabra by beginning violinists and cellists - (Zonnestein Hall)
Come see and listen to the performance Abacadabra. Young string players (between the ages of 4 and 7) play together. This will give you an idea of how much you can already learn in a year of music lessons.
Parents and other family members may also attend this performance

16.00 – Hello Cello Final Concert
The North Holland section of the Hello Cello Orchestra, together with the Cello Ensemble (Conservatorium van Amsterdam) and Orchestra Passionato Strings (String Orchestra of Platform C), will perform a final concert as a festive conclusion to the Hello Cello Day.
