Every spring, Passionato Strings rehearses with soloists. These are peers who play instruments other than string instruments. We recently had a fantastic rehearsal weekend at a beautiful villa in Aerdenhout. Clarinetist Aida Bahramisharif and flutist Tycho Holleman were there. Other students of flute teacher Laetitia Leemans also came to rehearse on Saturday. They stayed for the barbecue that evening, organized by the parents. On Sunday, there was a performance in the garden for parents, family, and, of course, Désirée Feltz. She provided us with this accommodation free of charge.
Rehearsals are now back in full swing. On June 26 at 7:30 p.m., we will present our season-closing concert. Lotje Meijer’s harp students and Laetitia Leemans’ flute students will perform with us during this concert. The program features Celtic and Scottish music from the Highlands. We’ll also perform music by our own violin teacher, Hans Scheepers, and Britten’s *Simple Symphony*, performed by the lead section of Passionato Strings. This is part of a project organized by Laura Oomen, a violinist with the Nedpho. Of course, we’ll conclude with some lighter classical music featuring all participants and soloists.
About Passionato Strings
Passionato Strings is Platform C’s string orchestra for students aged 13 to 18. The orchestra performs original pieces and arrangements by the conductor, as well as well-known classical works for strings. The members work on their repertoire, bowing technique, tone, and vibrato, and sometimes perform pieces from memory. They give regular performances, for example in churches or during ensemble concerts at school.
The orchestra is conducted by Jeanny Beerkens. Everyone is welcome to come and listen and enjoy this special performance.
