Letters are much more than just symbols used to write words. They can be large or small, thick or thin, bold or graceful, and sometimes even transform into an image. In the Letter Art course, you’ll learn how to use letters as a starting point for your own artwork and designs.

During the course, the children explore different letterforms and draw inspiration from artists, designers, and their work. How do they use letters, shapes, colors, and images? What makes a letter or design special? Drawing on these examples, the children develop their own ideas and style step by step.

The children work with various materials and techniques, such as block letters, homemade stamps, drawing, cutting, pasting, color, and shape. They discover how their choices influence a design and use this insight to develop their ideas step by step. In this way, they create their own designs, printed cards, and small works of art that bring together letters, shapes, colors, and images. They also come up with appropriate texts, such as an original message for a postcard or a catchy slogan for a poster. In this way, they develop their creativity, skills, and sense of design—and discover how text and imagery can reinforce each other.
