Vacancy for the Supervisory Board

Platform C believes that art and culture play an indispensable role in the lives of young and old. It offers people the opportunity for personal development and enables them to learn with and from each other. From this conviction Platform C makes active cultural participation possible for everyone, together with its partners in Amstelveen and the Amstelland region.

The regular membership of the Council consists of 5 people. Currently, the Board consists of three people and is seeking reinforcement with a specific HR/organizational development profile for the coming period. The Supervisory Board has two standing committees: an audit committee and a remuneration committee. Members are appointed for a period of three years and are eligible for reappointment once.

The work

The Supervisory Board oversees the general affairs of Platform C and assists the director/manager with solicited and unsolicited advice. The Supervisory Board has a reviewing role in monitoring the strategy and objectives of the organization. The Board also functions as an employer for the director. It does this in accordance with the Governance Code for Culture for good management and supervision in the cultural sector.

The members of the Supervisory Board form a qualitative sounding board for the organization. The Supervisory Board is composed in such a way that there is sufficient expertise among its members with respect to the objectives of the foundation. The Supervisory Board meets on average five times a year with the Board and once without the Board. The position is unpaid.

Who are we looking for?

Members preferably have experience in a supervisory role. Furthermore, they have at least HBO work/thought level and have experience with administrative decision-making processes. The members are socially involved and use their network to strengthen the position of Platform C and to increase the accessibility of art, knowledge and culture in Amstelveen. A local background is recommended in order to be a sounding board on local social, political and cultural developments. In a general sense it is important that the new members are themselves socially active and active. Also in light of these vacancies, the Council strives for a diverse and inclusive composition.

General Profile

New members possess the following characteristics:

  • Committed from a distance: the ability to stand back, think broadly and respect management in its own responsibility.
  • A basic democratic attitude: able to articulate broad social views.
  • Leadership: the ability to see new developments coming from the supervisory side and incorporate them into longer-term policy and the ability to respond to sudden changes.
  • Integrity: no mixing of business and personal interests, able to handle provided information discreetly, and honest and fair in thought and action.
  • Open communication: the ability to exercise an advisory role in a team context and contribute to the common outcome.
  • Commitment and loyalty: members have sufficient time to attend meetings and are available for separate consultations as needed.

Specific profile

Member of Supervisory Board with HR/organizational development background

The member has a background in this field with a strategic view and experience with new forms of organizing, organizational change and participation. He/she is able to think along about the impact of organizational changes and innovations on employees and how support can be acquired. He/she also has expertise in the field of good employment practices, (strategic) personnel planning and labor market issues.
